Our home is close to restaurants, bars, local beaches, and between Ponsonby and the CBD. Victoria park, the supermarket, Sky City and the Viaduct is just a 15-20 minute walk. The house is a colonial villa built in the early 1900s on a historical street. The accommodation is family friendly and great for anyone who wants to enjoy the quietness of this special nook within a busy little suburb and city. We have an abundance of children books and toys for those with a little one. Enquire re: pets.
The space has recently been renovated and is tastefully decorated with a mix of modern and old furniture which compliments this early 1900s colonial villa. When you walk in the beautiful corridor upstairs you will see entrances to the 3 bedrooms, the balcony and downstairs towards the living space.
Rooms: Note 3rd bedroom available only upon request (due to the time it takes to set up)
The master bedroom has a king sized bed. It walks into a large wardrobe and the ensuite bathroom. Note that this is our home but one section of the wardrobe hanging spaces will emptied out for guests' use.
The second bedroom has a single bunk bed with steps (not ladder), which is great for the little ones (or an average sized adult...might be a bit tight for a very tall person). If you have another child or guest that would like to sleep in the same room we can also set up a good quality blow up floor camping mattress if needed for that extra child or guest with full sheets, pillows, and duvet it will feel like a comfy bed. We have an abundance of toys and books for little ones.
The third room has a good quality sofa bed which can be converted into a comfortable double sized bed. This bedroom does have a built in dog crate in it which doubles up as a tall table so you have somewhere to put your things on. The crate is massive (for a Great Dane). If you have a dog that is staying with us you're more than welcome to use the crate - please enquire re pets.
The upstairs corridor opens out to a balcony overlooking the outdoor area where there is a small gym area and sauna.
We have full central heating/cooling upstairs, making your sleeps very comfortable in winter and summer.
Downstairs we have the kitchen and living spaces. You have full use of all appliances in the kitchen, including a soda stream, coffee maker, microwave, spices, oil, salt pepper, anything you can find really! Please note the only indoor dining area is the kitchen island. There are extra bar stools if you are a maximum party of 5. There is an outdoor dining table for warmer days.
The open lounge area is off the kitchen with a huge TV with Netflix and Disney channels. We have a gas fireplace downstairs and a baby grand piano.
The downstairs bathroom is big and modern, complete with a bath.
Our home is not 100% childproof so care will need to be taken. We have a lockable door separating upstairs and downstairs in place of a baby gate. There are ornaments and plants around the house. If you have a very hands on toddler you may want to keep an eye on them (ours have learnt to live with everything we have!). You need to have eyes on toddlers and younger children at all times when they are in the backyard if our pop up pool is up during summer months (it may not be during your stay). It is a small pool and is shallow but you will still need to exercise caution at all times. Please lock all doors to the outside when not in use - our bifold doors have locks on the top and can't be reached by kids for safety.
Please note that this is our home. While I keep everything very tidy for guests, there may be little things like items in the freezer, pantry or (tidy) hanging items in our wardrobe that will mean that it will not feel like a 5 star hotel. But we like to think it would be a 5 star stay =) Our home is cleaned every week, and every after guest stay.
There are a few cameras and a security monitoring system outside of the house in place for our and your safety.
