The Space:
The Rotoiti Boathouse is the original home on this beautiful lakefront site, and it still holds one of the finest positions on Lake Rotoiti. Sitting right on the shoreline with its own jetty and beach, it puts the water at your doorstep - the kind of spot where you can watch the lake change colour through the day and catch the sunset straight off the deck.
Inside, the boathouse is warm and characterful, lined in timber and made for relaxed lake days. The master bedroom has a comfortable queen bed, and there are two king single beds in the living area, so the home sleeps four in total. There is one bathroom with a shower.
The lakeside deck is the heart of the place. It looks straight down Lake Rotoiti, with a picnic table and BBQ ready for long lunches, and it is where you will spend your mornings with a coffee and your evenings watching the light fade. Two kayaks are included, with life jackets and paddles, so you can be out on the water within minutes of arriving. Inside you will find a full kitchen, wifi and a smart TV for the quieter moments.
Please note the home is accessed by a set of stairs that guests need to come up and down, so it suits those who are comfortable on stairs. There is off-street parking for one vehicle.
Guest Access:
Guests have the whole boathouse to themselves, along with the lakeside deck, the jetty, the two kayaks, and one off-street parking space. The property shares the wider site with a second home, The Lion House, but each home has its own separate beach and the boathouse remains private and self-contained.
The Neighborhood:
Lake Rotoiti is one of the most loved of the Rotorua lakes - clear water, bush-clad shores and a calm, away-from-it-all feel. It is a favourite for kayaking, fishing, boating and swimming, and the lake connects through to Lake Rotorua and the geothermal hot pools that the area is known for. The nearby Okere Falls settlement has a well-regarded café and store, and the famous Manupirua hot pools are only reachable by boat across the lake. It is a quiet, natural setting while still being an easy drive from Rotorua's restaurants, shops and attractions.
Getting Around:
A car is recommended for this location. The boathouse is on State Highway 30 at Lake Rotoiti, around 30 minutes' drive from central Rotorua and roughly 20 minutes from Rotorua Airport. There is off-street parking for one vehicle at the property. Once you are settled in, the lake and deck are right there - the rest of the time you will want the car for trips into town and out to the surrounding attractions.
