Turangi is a gateway to adventures north and south with the beautiful Lake Taupo on the northern side and the exciting Mt Ruapehu on the southern side .
Taupo township is a 35 minute drive north for shopping dining and adventure activities such as sky diving ,bungy jumping,jet boat rides and on-water activities such as parasailing canoeing and fishing.
Whakapapa skifield is approx 30 minutes south through the National Park road with spectacular views during your drive.
There are also many walking and cycling tracks in the general area. Good quality restaurants available, to Indian, Chinese, Pizza, roasts, fish and chips takeaways, Burger King, and a number of cafes that offer good home-cooked food for daytime dining. The local Tavern also offers good counter meals.
