Positive: The Suites at the Vault in the old Public Trust building, feel like a home away from home, a cross between a bougie hotel and a fancy airbnb. Supported by the gorgeous King and Queen Suites just across the road, you have the fantastic service of their boutique lobby to pop into for anything you need, where the wonderful staff will look after you with complete hospitality, nothing is a problem. The design and layout is just perfect for two people, with everything catered for, especially if you want to stay a few days, there's a microwave, dishwasher and all utensils, dinnerware etc, in the well-equipped kitchen, and organic tea and coffee from local roasters Ozone. Everything has been done with taste and a little luxury, with comfortable linen, cushions and throws, a soft sheepskin on the wicker chair, a sink in leather couch, underfloor heating in the bathroom, a fantastic rain shower on tiles, fluffy white towels and beautiful products, and the homeliness of real plants. There’s warmth from the radiators for heating, and extra blankets if you need them. The Vault is right in town, with easy access to everything New Plymouth has to offer, galleries, cafes, library etc. Len Lye Art Gallery, and Puke Ariki are a short walk away, and it’s only a hop, skip and jump down to the wild coastal walkway, which we did every day. (Monica’s right next door is also a wonderful brunch spot) We could not have asked for a better stay in an iconic building of Taranaki’s history, with it’s old world charm, and the historic town clock chiming the hours away. An absolutely beautiful vibe, and we will most definitely be back again.
