A short five minute walk gets you to the patrolled swimming beach or Bates Beach, with rock pools to explore. It is only a two minute walk to the sheltered bush track trailhead. The property is within a five minute walk to the cafe / pub and two playgrounds. A short drive takes you to the Nuggets Lighthouse and Wildlife Reserve, or get a closer look and paddle around this rugged beauty with Catlins Kayak & Adventure.
When the sun isn’t shining, there are books, DVDs and games to play by the fire (please note there is no Wifi or TV reception). Or, go check out The Catlins Brewery (by appointment only). You could take a drive down the coast to Purakanui Falls, Maclean Falls, Cathedral Caves and and more that The Catlins has to offer. Owaka (the gateway to The Catlins) is 15 minutes away and has shops, great coffee and an excellent museum of the local area.
The small, cosy town of Balclutha is a 15 minute drive north and will provide all the services and shopping you might need to enjoy your stay.
