This idyllic waters edge bach is 25 minutes from Whangarei and 2.5 hours from Auckland. It sits on a secluded sandy beach and has safe swimming ideal for young children.

The bach is a two level self contained unit with kitchen, lounge and separate bathroom downstairs with a shower; upstairs is a bedroom, lounge and toilet.

Fantastic views to the sea are available from each room. The unit sleeps up to 5 people.

Tutukaka village is only 2 minutes drive away. The store at Tutukaka has all the usual supplies for your convenience. Restaurants in the Tutukaka area include the Schnappa Rock or Oceans Resort by the marina. Takeaways are just 5 minutes over the hill in Nungaruru or have a casual pizza in the marina cafe. The Tutukaka marina has a large range of charter vessels for fishing or diving.

The picturesque Matapouri Bay along with the surf beach of Sandy Bay is just a 10 to 15 minute drive to the north.

Summary: We had previously stayed twice before at this property, last stay was 3 years ago. Fantastic location and owner is great to deal with. Only reason for 3 stars (cleanliness) is because the microwave was dirty when we arrived and the BBQ was too rusty to cook on. These things happen, owner was advised and we had a good response. I feel it necessary to warn future guests that our relaxing holiday was spoiled by the barking dogs next door. There are now 3 dogs, the 2 small ones are the problematic barkers. We can handle daytime barking, but the owner takes them out at 6-6.30am most mornings to run along the beach. The anticipatory barking starts up inside their house (which we hear) about 15mins beforehand, then the owner lets them out of the front gate and the dogs run across the lawn of the bach barking frantically. So everyone in our household was woken at 6-6.30am pretty much every morning. One morning it was 5.30am. No fault of the bach’s owner of course, but we work hard all year and look forward to sleeping in on our holidays, but were unable to do so. I did attempt to speak to the dog’s owner after the 5.30am wake up but she didn’t seem to care. For this reason, we will sadly be looking to stay somewhere else next summer.
